March 22, 2022

The broadening of the Regio Deal Foodvalley subsidy scheme provides companies and institutes up to 50% subsidy for new facilities from validation of the prototype up to market launch (TRL 5-8). Sharing facilities is a proven method to jointly invest in new test, demonstration and pilot production facilities that contribute to the transition of the food system. The purpose is to maximise productivity and accelerate innovation by sharing facilities, because it is fast, sustainable and cost-effective. Applications must be submitted by 15 June 2022.

Purpose

The shared facilities contribute to accelerating innovation and stimulating innovative activities in which knowledge is shared, technology is transferred and more organisations choose to work together. The scheme stimulates companies and institutes to realise new facilities in the Dutch provinces of Gelderland and Utrecht.

Conditions

  • The subsidy scheme is available to organisations that jointly want to set up a knowledge and innovation cluster within which a shared facility is realised. The shared facility must contribute to protein transition, circular agrifood and/or food and health. The cluster must consist of at least three organisations with preferably at least one organisation is a knowledge partner.
  • The application concerns investments in shared pilot plant facilities or test facilities. It concerns Technology Readiness Levels 5-8: from validation process of the prototype up to complete and operational product or service market implementation (TRL5-8).
  • The investment enables organisations to shorten time to market and optimise efficiency during the innovation process.
  • The facilities will also be made accessible to other organisations at a market price.

For more information, please see the conditions.

Maximum subsidy

The subsidy scheme provides a maximum of 50% of the eligible costs up to a maximum of € 4 million per application. Eligible costs consist of investment and operating costs; the basic principle is that at least 70% of the eligible costs are for investment and at most 30% are for operating costs. Experimental costs for taking the business assets into use in the innovation cluster can also be included.
