Encouraged by her employer Futura Gaïa, Plant Scientist Lucile Duverger joined the Vertical Farming course to explore opportunities, tackle challenges, and connect with experts in the field.
I found the Vertical Farming course incredibly valuable, particularly the 2-day conference at WUR, which facilitated excellent networking with students, researchers, and industry professionals. I gained insights into overcoming the challenges of scaling vertical farming without compromising quality, which is crucial for its success in France.
Conversations about light management sparked innovative ideas for our setup at Gaïa, and I connected with an LED light producer to optimise our protocols. Additionally, discussions with a participant from Singapore opened doors to explore business opportunities for local food production in Southeast Asia.
The highlight of the course was the engaging 2-day conference at WUR, fostering collaboration among students, researchers, and industry professionals.
The course structure worked well, allowing me to balance online learning with my regular work. However, I would suggest more early interactions with experts to enhance networking. Overall, this course deepened my understanding of the challenges and opportunities in vertical farming.
