Intermediate Dutch 3 (standard track)
Do you already speak Dutch well in social situations, but want to further improve your Dutch language skills so that you can talk to your colleagues or friends about your research, work, travel, etc.? Do you want to be able to give your opinion on a variety of topics or how to express you feel in a variety of situations? Do you want to expand your vocabulary, practice communication skills, and also learn something about what is typically Dutch? In that case, take the Intermediate Dutch 3 course.
Target group
The course is for international employees, PhD candidates and expats who already have prior knowledge of Dutch and who want to learn Dutch for social purposes on and outside their workplace.

Entry level: A2 (CEFR)
Level on completion: Halfway to B1 (CEFR)
Course content
The main goal of this course is to learn to communicate in Dutch in everyday situations.
What will this course teach you?
After this course, you will be able to:
• talk about your academic career;
• talk about your wishes for your career or education;
• report information you have heard or read;
• explain the differences between options;
• explain the pros and cons of different options;
• talk about the travelling you have done;
• respond appropriately to good or bad news (for yourself or the other person);
• reassure someone;
• formulate advice;
• ask for an opinion and give your opinion;
• summarise extensive or complicated information in a comprehensible way.
Grammar is always covered in a communication context and for functional purposes.
Culture and history influence the language of a country. That is why this course will also pay attention to interesting and relevant aspects of Dutch culture and history. Knowledge about these topics will make it easier to understand Dutch people and their responses.
Admission requirements
For this course you need prior knowledge of Dutch. You can sign up for this course, if you have participated in Intermediate Dutch 2.

You follow the course entirely online using the Virtual Classroom in Brightspace or at our location: Forum, Wageningen Campus.
Number of classes
14 classes of 1.5 hours, 1 class per week.

Certification
After the course you will receive a certificate from Wageningen in’to Languages, provided you have attended at least 80% of the classes. Would you like to continue improving your language skills? It is possible to proceed into Advanced 1.
