Do you have a passion for sports and especially Badminton? Do you like to teach others and are you able to enthuse a group of fanatic students? Then we at Sports Centre de Bongerd are looking for you!

For our student badminton club De Lobbers we are looking for a:
Badminton Trainer (as of September 1th)

Your Job
As a badminton coach, you will be responsible for training and supervising the competition players of student sports association De Lobbers. The association has over 110 (student) members. Training takes place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 19.00 to 20.30 and is provided from Sports Centre de Bongerd, in cooperation with De Lobbers.

De Lobbers participate in the competition of Badminton Nederland (NBB), with teams active in the 4th through 9th divisions.

Your main task is to develop the league players, both individually and as a team, with the aim of improving the level of play and achieving competitive results.

In addition to regular training sessions, several times a year you will participate in team and faculty meetings, in-service training activities, WeDay, the AID and/or staff outings. These take place outside of your usual working hours.

The Sports Centre de Bongerd (SCB) of Wageningen University & Research (WUR) is responsible for the sports program for students and employees of WUR. A total of 6,500 students and 900 employees actively use the sports center which consists of 45 specialized sports instructors, 9 management and administration staff. The CPC has an initiating and active role in the implementation of the Vital@work health program.

The sports center is located on the edge of campus and is the base of operations for the various student sports associations. Due to the large number of international students and staff, the language of communication on campus is largely English.

Your qualities

You are an active, initiative-taking person, in which the competencies customer orientation, cooperation, sociability, coaching, flexibility and enthusiasm play an important role.
You also possess/are:

  • WCF level 1 diploma
  • A driven, ambitious trainer who shows clear leadership and has an eye for the interests of the club;
  • A trainer who stands above the group' but if possible/necessary dares to stand ‘in between’ and is part of the social hour after a game or training;
  • The ability to deal casually with the target group ‘student’;
  • A trainer who pays attention to the flow of existing members and the integration of new students;
  • Someone who fits within the current club culture and has knowledge of and can deal with different cultural backgrounds;
  • You can function independently and proactively;
  • You have a good command of the Dutch and English language;
  • You have experience in training adults (preferred).

Depending on your experience, we offer a competitive gross salary of between €3.218,- and €4.298,- for a full-time working week of 38 hours, in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreements for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU) (scale 8). This is a position for 3 hours per week. As for your contract, we initially offer a one-year contract that can be extended on good performance.
