Development of mini-MOOCs to increase the awareness and impact of C3S

The mini-MOOCs represent a strategic effort to democratize access to climate information and promote greater awareness and understanding of climate-related issues. Through collaborative partnerships and innovative educational approaches, we aim to enhance the reach and impact of Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S), fostering a more informed and resilient global community in the face of climate change challenges.

The mini-MOOCs project is a collaborative initiative led by Wageningen University (WU) and Wageningen Research (WENR + WCDI) to develop three mini-Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) to reduce barriers in the uptake and use of the products, tools and services that C3S offers. Our objective is to create three engaging and impactful mini-MOOCs that empower individuals and organizations to navigate the complexities of climate change and make informed decisions. These three mini-MOOCs will clearly illustrate the “big picture” of where C3S fits in the overall climate data value chain, the importance of quality assured and operational climate data, and the high societal impact it achieves. Leveraging the team's extensive experience in the development and organisation of MOOCs, educational innovation, knowledge of and experience with C3S products, and our wide European and international network, the mini-MOOCs will provide accessible, fun and informative learning experiences, addressing the varied needs of participants across different targeted audiences, thereby fulfilling the main aim for the mini-MOOCs: for different user groups to feel confident and capable in using climate data in their professional capacities, thereby enhancing the societal impact of C3S data and products.
