Lucie Sovová, the research mediation coordinator of OtherWise, wins a Honourable Distinction of Storm-van der Chijs Award
On the 29th of October, Lucie Sovová was awarded a Honourable Distinction of Storm-van der Chijs Award. Lucie, the research mediation coordinator of OtherWise, was nominated for her research on urban gardening and alternative food networks. More specifically, she looks how informal food economies in Central and Eastern Europe coexist and interact with market-based economies. We are lucky that next to all this academic work she has been involved in OtherWise!
The Storm-van der Chijs Fund was created in 1998 to encourage and support Wageningen University female scientists to pursue their work and career in science. The fund is named after Mienette Storm-van der Chijs, who was a pioneer in Agricultural Sciences and champion of (agrarian) education for girls in the 19th century.
This year, sixteen candidates from all science groups were nominated. They were assessed on richness in initiative, interdisciplinary, international embeddedness, and linking science of society. In the end, the jury, that consisted of Prof.dr.ir. Arnold Bregt, Prof.dr.ir Erwin Bulte and Prof.dr. Eric Schranz, awarded three most talented PhD candidates: Eva Johan, Lucie Sovová and Julia Krug. This award allows them to visit an academic conference or institute abroad for further international profiling.
