Students from European universities showcase their research on Wageningen Campus

Wageningen Campus buzzed with energy as students and staff from 14 prestigious universities within the ELLS network (Euroleague for Life Sciences) gathered for an unforgettable event! From November 21–23, over 400 passionate participants came together to dive into inspiring keynotes and interactive workshops on Innovations in Higher Education.

Students had the exciting opportunity to present their cutting-edge research under the captivating theme, "The Puzzle of Life Sciences – Add Your Piece." It was a dynamic celebration of collaboration, creativity, and the future of life sciences.

Conference

The chair of ELSA (Euroleague Student Association), Jeanne Richard, opened the Scientific Student Conference with an inspiring and thought-provoking address. She encouraged the attendees to think boldly and to add their own piece to the puzzle of Life Sciences; the theme of the conference.

Rector Magnificus of Wageningen University & Research (WUR) and Chair of the ELLS Board, Carolien Kroeze, focused in her opening address on the importance of collaboration, research, and the role of higher education in shaping a better future. Her opening remarks were a call to action, inviting all participants to join in the pursuit of solutions that can transform the world for the better.

Engaging and insightful keynotes were presented by Gregor Halff, Birgit Boogaard, and Ulrike Wild.

Winners of the research presentations

The jury had an impossible task, torn between the outstanding presentations. After much deliberation, the winners were finally revealed. These students earned a well-deserved 300 euros for the best oral presentations and 150 euros for the top poster presentations in their sub-themes. Their innovative work stood out, making a lasting impression and setting the bar high for future researchers.
