2016 Call

First Joint Call for transnational research proposals

Call on monitoring & mitigation of Greenhouse gases from agri- and silvi-culture

ERA-GAS launched a co-funded call for transnational research projects in Europe and New Zealand on 4 March 2016 (call announcement document (pdf)). The call for full proposals closed on 19 December 2016. The submitted full proposals underwent a final formal check and subsequent evaluation by an international peer review panel, the International Evaluation Committee (IEC). The IEC evaluated the full proposals based on excellence, impact and quality and efficiency of the implementation and management. Each proposal was reviewed by at least three independent experts. The ranking of full proposals was conducted according to the evaluation results, and the selection of full proposals strictly followed the ranking list of evaluators.

The joint call was under the ERA-NET Cofund scheme of Horizon 2020 of the European Commission. The scientific scope of the call for proposals was divided in the following four research themes:

  1. Improving national GHG inventories and monitoring, reporting and verification of emissions;
  2. Refining and facilitating the implementation of GHG mitigation technologies;
  3. State of the art production systems that are profitable and improve food and forest biomass production while reducing GHG emissions;
  4. Assessment of policy and economic measures to support emissions reductions across the farm-to-fork and forest-to consumer chain.

The funding partners are from 13 European countries and New Zealand.The indicative total budget amounted to 13,9 M€, subject to the successful negotiation of the ERA-GAS ERA-NET Cofund with the European Commission.

In May 2017, 10 projects were selected to receive funding in the frame of the ERA-GAS ERA-NET.
