Improving comfort and accessibility of bus stops along the Rhine line

The province of Gelderland and the municipalities of Arnhem, Renkum, Wageningen and Ede have the ambition to realize a direct bus connection between Arnhem Central station, Wageningen Campus and Ede-Wageningen station via Oosterbeek, Renkum and Wageningen. The bus stops along this so-called Rhine line will be upgraded. This also includes the bus stops at Mansholtlaan and Mondriaanlaan and those at Forum. These stops will remain accessible via temporary nearby bus stops.

The Rhine line will be introduced in phases. The first section from Arnhem Central to Wageningen bus station has already been completed and will become increasingly visible: from 2024, special electric Trolley 2.0 buses will be running on this route. These buses can run partly without overhead wires. For the route from Wageningen bus station to Ede-Wageningen station, the Province is currently investigating how Trolley 2.0 buses can also run here.

In the meantime, the Province has started upgrading the bus stops. On campus, the furniture on the bus stop platforms will be adjusted, guiding facilities for the blind and visually impaired will be installed, benches will be renovated and the walking routes to the stops will be improved.

The work will take place between March 20 and April 14, at Forum between March 22 and April 7. At the Forum stop, work will start after 09:00. The road will remain open, but might be slightly less accessible. Construction and Installation Management of the Facilities & Services Department will ensure, together with the contractor, that everything goes according to plan.
