There was a lot of interest during the third WDCC Meet-up, held in Impulse, about 'Practical Applications of Linked Data' on the 26th of September. An enthusiastic audience listened this evening to the presentations of speakers from inside and outside WUR.

The speakers talked about their experiences with linked data. Pieter van Everdingen from Linked Data Nederland, for example, spoke about the possibilities of linked data when sharing data between companies and institutions. He also emphasized the importance of linked data for FAIR data.

Jan Top (WUR) told us about how linked data can increase research into food quality by guaranteeing the quality of data. Wendy van Herpen from Unilever showed that linked data helps Unilever with internal and external exchange of data. It also helps to record taste improvements in food tests. Finally, Jasper Koehorst (WUR) gave a presentation about what linked data can mean for the storage, processing and sharing of genomics data. After the presentations there was time for talking and networking with a drink and a bite.

This meet-up was organized by Campus Connect and Wageningen Data Competence Center.
